Zero to Hero

Gotta love things found on the side of the road!

This poor chair was found dying in the middle of the road in my old ends, Forest Fields in Nottingham.

I removed the old covering and cut a pattern from it. Meanwhile I sprayed the wood work using a Montana 94 spray can in fuschia pink with a fat cap from http://montanashopnottingham.com/ (but I went into the store to get it, lucky me living so close!!)

Then I stapled down my new covering and added a pearl edging to make this sexy hero, MEeeeeeoooooOOOW!!!

The structure of the chair is still damaged and I need to do a bit of repair work underneath but in the meantime he is a beautiful addition to our home and the kitties love to snuggle up together on him.

Mexican Sugar Skull Picture

I have a mahoosive love of all things Mexican and I really really dig the colourful Mexican skulls. I have done loads of projects over the years which feature these, most notably my wedding shoes, but I shall blog about those soon.

This handsome man is HUGE and sits pride of place in our living room. He is actually a joint project between myself and Mr T, who draw the outlines and then I did all the colour work...we do this a lot actually and I will do another blog with some more of our collaborations

There are all sorts of things going off in this picture, embossing, gem stones, silk flowers, peacock feathers, an old fly curtain shaped with love hearts, black lace...the list goes on!

The face is just made of normal white card, in fact I think it's a cereal box! Painted white and then embossed over the teeth in gold and the hearts in red.

The hands are cheap halloween decorations from Asda a few years ago and the cherries and mini skull are made out of fimo that I baked myself.

Colourful fun, and here he is in situ!!

There's Mr T pretending to ignore me but failing!!

Mitten Scarf

Seems a weird time of the year to be blogging about this but he is one of my projects and deserves a place up here!

I used super chunky wool from John Lewis (or Jessops as I still call it much to the annoyance of Mr T) and size 15 needles.

Its knitted as one long piece starting with knit one pearl one for about 6 rows, then basket knit until my hands ached and, once folded over, I could fit my hands in the pocket. Then I did knit a row pearl a row for the whole length of the scarf until I got to the other end, then I just did the same as the start but in reverse (This probably makes no sense, I'm very sorry!!! I'm new to this so feel free to shout me out for my bad descriptions)

I then folded over the hand bit, sewed the sides and voila! Scarf with mittens! What I have been meaning to do and will do before this winter is line the mittens with fleece to keep my hands extra warm.

My First Ever Dress!!

My sister has asked me to make her a few dresses which I am really excited about, she is a very beautiful women and it will be a total pleasure to make clothes for her.

In order to get my head around what I would be doing for her, I made myself a version of what I think she is after. I finished it this morning and I proudly wore it around town all afternoon. I dropped in to see my sister who works for a big high street clothes shop in Nottingham town centre and she LOVED it, one of the other staff said it looked like one of their dresses so I was chuffed to bits.

I'm a bit nervous about this one as it is my first dress and I made it without a pattern....

Yay!!!!

Ah ha! Thanks to the wonderful Mr T here is another shot of the dress:

It's made from crepe fabric brought from Victoria centre market and has a Sabrina neckline, shirred waist and full skirt. It's lovely to wear and my sister is very excited to get her version of the dress now, we are going fabric shopping later on in the week :D

Bed Sheet Curtains

I needed some curtains for the kitchen patio and I couldn't afford any fabric, so I used this old bedsheet that had been stuffed in a drawer for ages deemed to boring ( I like BRIGHT PATTERNS to wake me up in the morning)

I have to admit I have been really lazy and not ironed her hoping that the creases would drop out...but alas they haven't and now she looks like me after a late night, crumpled and tired! So I will do the decent thing and give her a good pressing.

You can see my poorly acer tree in the background :(

The Long shot.

Not bad really, cost me nothing and fits in well with the room, just need to sort out those creases before my mum comes for a visit!! I will be in trouble :D

My first ever skirt (I think anyway :s)

Drum roll please...........

TA DA!!!

My First Skirt :D

This was made from some left over polka dot fabric from another project and the bottom panel is off a bed sheet (which later got turned into my new patio curtains which I will blog about in a mo jo)

I think she is a very beautiful skirt and I have finally started to accept that it's no longer the 1990s, I'm not a member of All Saints and wearing my clothes on my hips is just not a good look for me, so here is a picture that will make my mum proud....look mum it's on my waist!! wowowowo!!

Cute as candy!

Clippity Clop

Clippity Clop was made last summer after a failed attempt at camping with me, Mr T and The Greenwood-Lamberts. We did manage to go for one night but it rained all night and we were floating by the morning.

Not wanting to ruin the whole weekend we used the refunded camping money to buy crafting materials and spent the rest of the weekend hanging out and making stuff, Clippity Clop is the result.

Here is his sexy back, he is actually a deep Cadbury's purple but I just cannot get my camera to stop looking blue, grrr oh well you will just have to trust me when I say he is totally adorable :D

Clippity Clop, Clippity Clop, Clippity Clop!!

Gracie's Fairy Tale Dress

This one is just a fix up but I'm still proud :D

My friends beautiful daughter had recently become sad as her favourite fancy princess dress had all fallen down at the hem and become frayed, so off she got sent to Aunty Lola's for some well needed R & R and here she is all fixed up and ready to be sent home to Grace to be loved and played with again:

And here's a close up of the fix, ahhh the wonder of bias tape :D

Fingers crossed Grace approves, 5 year olds ALWAYS give an honest opinion

20/10/2011 UPDATE

it's taken me a while to get this pic up due to various internet based reason but here is the lovely Grace wearing her fixed dress

And with her lil' bro William

Job well done :)

Table Covering

This was a nice simple project and he only took me an hour to do, the fabric was brought from ebay for pennies and was originally brought to extend a pair of orange curtains that were a little short, I was going to make a contrasting panel...but then we moved house and I no longer needed the curtains so the fabric got turned into this bad boy:

He is also very proud to say he can be worn as a superhero cape! WOOOOSHHHHH!!!!

Honeymoon Project

I would like to introduce you to a very special lady. I recently got married to Mr T, and in our guest book my sister and beau had left a message that was so simple and beautiful it brought me and Mr T to tears in the cab on the way home.

This inspired me so much that the day after the wedding me and Mr T rushed out and spent some of our wedding vouchers on a beautiful cushion cover from the House of Fraser and then during our "lock in the house 2 week honeymoon" I crafted away, sewing love and happiness into every stitch (vom I KNOW but its trruuuuuee)

Here are the results:

I changed the wording slightly to make the tense correct (as Mr T is a grammer Nazi!)

This is my favourite flower :D

I didn't use an embroidery hoop for this flower so she is a bit puckered :S

Mr T's favourite flower.

All you need is Love x

Hopefully in this picture you will be able to see the writing a little better, this was done mainly in satin stitch but I did back stitch the really fine bits:

The below writing was all back stitched:

And there she is...hopefully she will be around for many many years to come and will always be there to remind us of that amazing day and the love that me and Mr T shared with all our friends and family.

There was one more interesting message in the guest book, although for some odd reason just didn't inspire me to get crafting....

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
